La Plata Electric Association, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.
As a rural electric cooperative, LPEA is owned and operated for the benefit of those who use its services, thus all those who purchase electricity from LPEA are member-owners and elect the 12-member board of directors that oversees the business of the cooperative.
A company with a strong commitment to community, LPEA offers complimentary energy assessments and on-going educational workshops, plus “gives back” to community non-profits through its Round Up Foundation.
LPEA was a recipient of the Department of Energy’s Green Business Leadership Award as well as the Chamber’s Business of the Year.
