Westerly RV Park

Why would you want to stay here? Close to the busy main road, no bathroom facilities, no showers, no garbage drop off. The office help was nicely apologetic. This place... NO, NO, NO!

Great location north of town.
Quaint and clean, not fixed up a lot but nice. No bathrooms.
We stayed in a 34' fifth wheel and it for fine. It was level in our spot.

We came in to Durango late Christmas Eve to discover most camping areas were closed for the season. We were lucky enough to find this cute little RV park! We were thankfully welcomed with "open arms" and found ourselves a nice little RV park we will definitely be returning to!! Thank you Carrie and Ben! We appreciate you!!

We stayed in Durango Co for a few nights at the Westerly RV Park. It's a no frills place. No showers or bathrooms but they did have laundry facilities. The owners Brian & Katy could not be any friendlier. They were easy to deal with from booking until checkout.

We arrived late and paperwork was easy to find and clearly marked and waiting for us. Even though it was late Brian still came over to greet us and give us information on the site and campground.

Sites were spacious & level (we had site 18). Full hookups, fireplace (no burn rules in place for the area right now), very clean picnic table, grass and the site was well maintained.

Directly across the street is the hot springs hot tub place.

Only downside and it really was not horrible, was the train passes by pretty close and enjoys blowing the whistle. 3 trains in the morning starting at 830am and 2 in the early.

Everything we look for in an RV Park, good location, good hookups and friendly hosts.

PLEASE READ BEFORE STAYING AT WESTERLY RV PARK
It is imperative people read this warning, especially women, before attempting to stay here.
I have a long story about what happened to me and my girls last Saturday night which I won't go through all the details. I will tell you it involved a lot of yelling (from the manager of the park at me and others) name calling, pounding on my RV, accusations, threatening bodily harm, him throwing rocks at people, and the police. i was so terrified I left as soon as I could. The manager had told me to leave anyway. I waited for the police before I would leave my camper.
Know this, especially females by themselves or without a male with them the Durango Police dept does not care and will not help you. Just dont go there. He seems to target only women. There is no doubt in my mind that he has a weapon and will use it to hurt someone. The kind of rage he displayed was not in any way normal. There is something seriously wrong with him!
Please please ladies do not go to this facility! I'm not sure he's gone after men but go at your own risk!

This campground is awful and management is very rude. Most of the people here are permanent, there's junk all over their camp spots. The managers space is full of junk also, has a broken down truck and another truck that's got at least 30 bags of trash in it. We witnessed the manager become very confrontational with a camper and he told them to F off and leave. We heard the whole conversation, the campers weren't obnoxious or confrontational when they tried to talk to the manager. Those people are leaving tomorrow instead of whatever their original departure date was, we also are leaving early. We travel all over the country and haven't experienced such poor business and people skills from campground management. Don't waste your money and don't disappoint yourself by staying here. This morning while we're packing up to leave the managers wife came out and started getting verbal. Neither have common business sense.

Negative stars for scary behavior from manager. I had inquired at Durango hotel who could not make room available in time. They recommended this RV park since I had been expedition camping.
I let Westerly manager know I was trying to find somewhere close to the hot springs but was told by manager to find another campsite since they were an RV park. When I pulled up to hot springs I noticed Westerly RV park was right across the street with signs that advertised they had hot springs. I was advised by one of the live in tenants to speak with the manager. I asked the tenant if he thought the manager could make an exception...his reply was that this is why the on site manager is there and not to mention his name. Thanks Mike.
I knocked on the manager's trailer...who then came out and asked me if we had already spoken on the phone. I said yes explaining I didn't realize his location was close to where I was going, right across the street. He became abusive and demeaning. He threatened me and said I was trespassing, as he made violent gestures with his fist. I asked him why he was acting this way and he kept insulting me. I'm sure this isn't the first time he has treated a woman this way. According to other reviews it is not. He then accused me of having red eyes...my response was well I've been driving and camping for two days but that I've been alcohol and drug free for 33 years so that is not the case. I was completely shocked and told Durango Hot Springs what had happened. Their response was that they are not affiliated with this RV park even though Westerly has signs claiming the contrary. No hot springs on their premises an no bathrooms or showers.

We had a great week at Westerly RV Park.
Brian was very accommodating and a great host. Kelly was a great helper.
We were there for one week in mid-September. We had a center space the first night. The next day we requested a space on the edge, next to the hot springs stream. We were able to switch spaces (thank you Brian). That made all the difference!! We had shade trees, mountain views, a green pasture view and best of all, a hot spring stream right behind our Airstream. We soaked our feet every afternoon in the mineral laden water.
The RV park is fenced in and very clean. There are laundry facilities on site. It is a quiet RV park.
We will come back to Durango and Westerly RV Park. Thanks guys for a wonderful time

Made last minute reservations in peak season and there was a cancellation The manager Brian helped me back in when i told him I was terrible at it. He also helped me fix a few small issues in RV...plus he noticed my truck needed washing badly and provided me with soap brushes and a hose. Wow that is service. Park has mixture of locals and tourists and has lots of nice trees. I feel safe and my dogs have a little yard. Not fancy but a perfect spot for us. Friendly people and great location
